Rain rain go away! Your not good for my pool today!

This year has been a lot different from the dry summer we all experienced last summer. Please remember that the rain around this area is a form of acid rain and will cause the pH and Alkalinity in your pool water to plummet quickly along with many important levels that your pool requires for preventing algae, protecting pool surface and equipment, as well as ensuring swimmer comfort. Please remember to have your swimming pool water tested & balanced after heavy rain falls and ensure your pool will not require costly treatments and repairs! Come into Cryer Pools and have your water analyzed today! Remember we offer a 12 point computerized water analysis.  We will provide an easy step by step computer printed instruction sheet to ensure you add the correct chemicals in the correct order! So stop in today we look forward to helping you get your pool ready to enjoy the rest of the summer!

Above Ground Pool Shopping Guide

If you are in the market for an Above Ground Pool there are a few things you should know before you start your.  Explore many different companies.  Most companies located in Baytown will travel to Houston, Galveston, Beaumont or even Pearland for the installation of an above ground pool.

Decide upfront if you are looking at a pool that has a salt system, salt generator or is countersunk half way in the ground.  This will narrow your options when looking for a pool.  Pools that can be countersunk or have a salt system must be full resin.  Putting a salt system on a pool that is not full resin will void the warranty and cause rusting within a few years.  If you are unsure the pool can be converted to a salt pool ask to see the manufacturers warranty to be certain.

If you are looking for a large pool (over 12,000) gallons, make sure the pool includes a center drain for better water circulation.  If it does not include a center drain you can always have them add one to your above ground pool package.  They will make it much easier to maintain clear water.  If for some reason you can not get a center drain in is recommended that you get an automatic pool clearer to run several hours a day.  This will provide water circulation from the bottom of the pool.

Ensure that the business you are purchasing from has a business history.  You want the company to assist you in the purchasing process, but also to be available for future questions or warranty issues.  A great way to check a companies out is to visit the BBB. Even if they are not a member the BBB will have information about that company such as how long they have been in business, how many complaints they have and how many complaints have been resolved.

Caring for an Intex Above Ground Pool

Above ground pools have become very popular in the last five years.  Now you can find Intex and other similar easy set pool brands in nearly every big box store in every town across the southern half of the country.  They are very easy to purchase and very easy to install.  What most people find after installing an Intex or easy set above ground pool is the issue of maintenance.  The small above ground pools you can find at your local do not come packaged with adequate filtration systems.  The pumps are small and the filters are undersized.  This will inevitably lead to algae and cloudy water issues.  Once you have cloudy water or algae in an Intex  or easy set pool you will most likely spend lots of money to address the issues and generally be left with unsatisfactory results.  If you are considering purchasing a small above ground pool it is strongly recommended that you purchase an upgraded pump and filter system.  It will save you time, money, and frustration in the long run.  If you already own a pool similar and are struggling with water clarity please bring your water into be tested and let the experts help you better understand how to prevent these issues so that you can enjoy your pool and not constantly fight algae.  There are certain precautions and  chemicals that work well in these types of above ground poolsPlease follow these steps to help prevent problems from occurring:

  • Run the pool equipment for 12-14 hours a day during the heat of the day.
  • Make sure you continuously have chlorine tabs in your floater or skimmer.
  • Shock the pool with granular chlorine every week and after heavy rain.
  • Replace your filter every 2 weeks or purchase a season long filter.
  • Make sure you have the water checked by a pool professional  weekly
  • If the water starts to appear even slightly hazy or green bring the water in immediately.
